Red Bull Racing can’t seem to catch a break this season despite Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez putting together a stellar show on the track. It was initially Christian Horner who paved the way for a chaotic few months, with an unnamed Red Bull employee laying serious accusations on their team boss. What followed was a stringent investigation into the case led by a barrister, and the final verdict came out in favor of Horner, which came as a shock to many.

Indeed, the British team principal and his entire squad were subsequently accused of forging the final outcome and demanded justice for the alleged victim. However, time heals anything and everything. And similarly, the buzz eventually died down, as the focus slowly shifted to the on-track action, finally leaving Horner out of the spotlight. Well, Adrian Newey isn’t prepared to move on, as a shocking rumor jolted the entire social media through Auto Motor und Sport on Thursday.

According to the German media outlet, Newey is not a fan of the rumored power struggle between Horner and his long-term colleague, Dr. Helmut Marko. Therefore, the British engineer will leave Red Bull by the end of this season, breaking an incredible 19-year partnership. Now, the question is, what will be Newey’s destination after leaving the Milton Keynes outfit?

One might reckon that Newey will join Fred Vasseur and Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, his dream team in Formula 1. But, the seemingly straightforward move might not be as easy after all. Ferrari will face heavy competition from two teams if not many.

F1 teams looking to steal Adrian Newey from Ferrari

The first name that pops up is Aston Martin. Yes, Aston Martin is not as successful as Ferrari, but, the Stroll-led outfit is certainly cooking something behind closed doors, and could well be a contender for the world championship title in 2026. For starters, Newey will reunite with Honda after five years, and we all know how successful this combination has been in the past.

Then, there’s Fernando Alonso, one of Newey’s favorite drivers. But, the factor that tops it all is that Newey will get to work from the United Kingdom, which wouldn’t be the case if he chose Ferrari. Then, there’s Mercedes, who is looking to regain its Midas touch after losing out on big players like Hamilton, the late Niki Lauda, and James Vowles.

Signing Newey might boost Mercedes’ chances of signing Verstappen as well, making it a double blow for Red Bull. Therefore, amidst the increasing competition for Newey, who is finally going to win the big prize?
