A couple of days back, Adrian Newey unofficially communicated to Red Bull that he does not intend to stay and wants to leave as soon as possible. He is unhappy with the internal affairs of the team as there is a power struggle between Christian Horner and Helmut Marko.
This news came as a shock as he is one of the most respected F1 car designers in the sport. His cars have won 12 Constructors’ Championships and 14 Drivers’ Championships. So if Newey is ready to pack things up at Red Bull, the one question everyone will be anticipating is, what does the future hold for Newey?
What will Adrian Newey do after his potential exit from Red Bull?
There is no doubt that Newey will have several offers from a number of teams. Over the past 3 decades, success seems to follow wherever he goes. Every team will want a taste of this success now. Given that there is a new set of regulations coming up in 2026, all the teams will need to build a new car. Adrian Newey’s input on this new design is invaluable.
We know that Ferrari has been pursuing Newey for over a decade now. The Italian team has already made an appealing offer for Newey to join the team. The British car designer has also spoken about wanting to work with Lewis Hamilton. If he is to join Ferrari in the near future, he will have the opportunity to do so.

Another team who has thrown their name in the hat is Aston Martin. They also have a strong case. Another driver whom Newey wanted to work with is Fernando Alonso. Newey would also get the opportunity to work with Honda once again as Aston Martin has signed a deal with the Japanese Manufacturer to be their power unit supplier from the 2026 season.
Other teams such as Mercedes and McLaren are also said to be interested in working with Newey in the future. However, their offers may not be as appealing as Ferrari and Aston Martin’s as the latter comes with additional motivators apart from financial gain.
But another high possibility is that Newey decides to call it a career and retire from the sport. He is currently 65 years old and has spent over 30 years working in F1. Given that he has gained a net worth of $50 million over the years, he could be looking to retire from the sport to spend some quality time with his family.
